Financial Aid can be of various types and provided to various organizations and even individuals in times of distress. Government, banks and other organizations provide financial aid to people around who need the aid. Financial aids may be in the form a student financial aid, college and University grants, K-12 School Funding, Loans, Scholarship Programs, Savings, Military Aid etc.
In the present times numerous financial institutions provide different types of educational financial aids. The student financial aid encompasses all the expenses borne by the student to complete his/her studies. Whichever institution takes the responsibility to help a student financially it bears the cost of tuition, boarding, food and other supplies for the student. In order to receive these aids a student has to prove his/her merit. There are certain conditions, which a student has to fulfill before he/she can receive the aid. According to this condition the aids can be classified into certain categories. They are:
- Merit-Based Aid- these types of aids come in the form of scholarships. These can be awarded by the college or by a separate institution to a student who is exceptionally talented or has achieved a great result.
- Need- Based Aid- these types of aids are provided on the basis of the student’s need. Both government and private institutions provide these types of aids.
The aid can also be in the form of a loan. This is a type of aid, which has to be repaid after a certain period of time at a given rate of interest.
