Central Bank Iraq


The Central Bank of Iraq is the Central bank of the country. The Central Bank has a strong mission of bringing stability in the price level and to sustain growth and prosperity of the country.

Important functions of the bank are as follows:

•  Issuing Notes and Currencies
•  Formulating and Implementing both Monetary and Fiscal Policy
•  Managing the External Sector
•  Controlling both gold and exchange reserves
•  Performing as a banker to the banks and the Government

With regards to the management of the company, there is a board consisting of a Governor, two deputy governors, three senior managers and three expert individuals in the field.

Apart from the above central banking activities, the bank also owns a Department of Research and Statistics, which gives statistical information upon various Government activities.
