Central Bank Malaysia

Bank Negara Malaysia, the Central Bank of Malaysia was established in the year 1959 by Central Bank of Malaya Ordinance, 1958. Since then the bank has been operating with a mission of maintaining both monetary and fiscal stability for achieving sustainable economic growth for the nation.

Important objectives of the bank are as follows:

• Issuance of the Currency
• Maintenance of the currency value from international point of view
• Developing a sound financial sector
• Emphasizing the Credit situation of the country

With regards to the organizational structure of the bank, there is a board consisting of nine members in the apex governing body. The Governor, Deputy Governor and secretary general act as the head of the board. Apart from this, other members come from various fields having special expertise.
