Central Japan Commodity Exchange

Abstract:
Central Japan Commodity Exchange, located in Japan has won the approval of METI or Ministry of Economy, Trade And Industry as well as MAFF or Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry And Fisheries. Also known by the name C-Com, the exchange is responsible for trading as many as 6 products. There are certain methods, which are followed while trading the different products.

Central Japan Commodity exchange also known by the name C-Com, is a commodity futures exchange different from the rest of the commodity exchanges. It is a licensee of the Ministry of Economy, Trade And Industry or METI. METI is responsible for looking into matters related to commodities required in various industries. It is also a licensee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry And Fisheries or MAFF. MAFF looks into matters related to commodities required in the agricultural sector. Since C-Com has the formal approval of the above bodies, the exchange is able to provide the public different range of products, which include agricultural as well as industrial products.
Osaka Mercantile Exchange or OME:
In the year 2007 January, the Central Japan Commodity Exchange acquired OME. Owing to this acquisition, the range of products increased taking the number to around 10. The new products, which were added to the list of available products include eggs, rubber, energy, non ferrous metals as well as ferrous metals.
"Trinity-X":
In the year 2007 September, an upgraded version of the computer trading system was launched. This upgraded system was known as "Trinity-X". The products can be traded directly on the computerized system. This system offers a high degree of flexibility.

Trading methods followed in Central Japan Commodity Exchange:
Trading of futures commodities in Japan are categorized into the following types.
  • Itayose also known as the session method of trading
  • Continuous method of trading also known as Zaraba.
The Zaraba method gave rise to the Itayose method in Japan. Session trading or Itayose method may be referred as "a form of auction". This takes place at fixed time intervals interspersed throughout the day. The sessions taking place at regular intervals are referred as "Setsu". Sessions are product specific. For instance, the petroleum products at C-Com have 6 sessions throughout the day.
