Altria Group is the parent company of Kraft Foods, Philip Morris International, Philip Morris USA, and Philip Morris Capital Corporation. Altria Group, Inc. also has a 28.7% economic and voting interest in SABMiller. Altria Group was formed on January 27, 2003, when Altria Group became the name of the parent company of the family of companies.
Although the company today known as Altria Group has only been in existence since 1985, their operating companies have roots that stretch back, in some instances, well over 150 years. As the parent company, the mission of Altria Group is to oversee its companies to enhance shareholder value.

This is done by focusing on growth, people, and a commitment to responsibility. The name Altria is derived from the Latin word altus, meaning "reaching ever higher". Altria Group strives for peak performance and constant improvement.
