History
Barclays, based in U.K., is one of the largest financial services companies of the world. Barclays has over 300 years of history. A goldsmith-banking business was founded by John Freame and his partner Thomas Gould in Lombard Street, London in 1690.The name Barclay became associated with the company in 1736, when James Barclay - who had married John Freame's daughter - became a partner.
Thus Barclay and Company was formed. From a small joint-stock bank Barclays has grown to be a huge financial services company.
