History
The history of Bayerische Landesbank goes back to 1884 when "Landeskultur-Rentenanstalt" was formed. Giroverband was formed in 1914. A new independent office "Girozentrale bayerischer Sparkassen” was founded in 1917. Girozentrale bayerischer Sparkassen was renamed "Bayerische Gemeindebank (Girozentrale) Öffentliche Bankanstalt" in the year 1925. In 1949, the Landeskultur-Rentenanstalt was renamed "Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt”.On 1 July, 1972 Bayerische Gemeindebank merged with Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt to become Bayerische Landesbank Girozentrale. Thus, Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB) was founded in 1972 through the merger of Landesbodenkreditanstalt and Bayerische Gemeindebank. Bayerische Landesbank entered into a new era in 2005 following a change of name to "BayernLB".
