History

The history of Bayerische Landesbank begins back in 1884 when "Landeskultur-Rentenanstalt" was created.

Giroverband was formed in 1914. A new independent office "Girozentrale bayerischer Sparkassen" was founded in 1917. Girozentrale bayerischer Sparkassen was renamed "Bayerische Gemeindebank (Girozentrale) Öffentliche Bankanstalt" in the year 1925. In 1949, the Landeskultur->Rentenanstalt was renamed "Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt." On July 1, 1972, Bayerische Gemeindebank merged with Bayerische Landesbodenkreditanstalt to become Bayerische Landesbank Girozentrale. Bayerische Landesbank entered into a new era in 2005 changing its name to "BayernLB."
