History
Bharat Refineries Limited was formed on 24th January 1976, when the Government of India took over the Burmah Shell Group of Companies. On 1st August 1977, the company was renamed Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. It was the first refinery to process newly found indigenous crude (Bombay High), in the country.The company experienced dynamic growth post nationalization in 1976. A transformed organization emerged in the 1990s. The company followed a planned approach and achieved a technological edge. Today, it’s a leading player in the petroleum sector of India.
