History Of BMW

Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke (BFW) was founded on March 7, 1916. Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH was founded on July 21, 1917. BMW GmbH became BMW AG in 1918. BMW acquired the BFW site in 1922. The company sold its engine production operations, together with the name BMW to BFW. Thus, the date of establishment of BMW is taken as the date on which BFW was founded—March 7, 1916. BMW grew to be a worldwide company. Its brands like Rolls Royce are globally recognized and regarded with high esteem. BMW Group has recently sold Rover and MG. The MINI brand has been held by the BMW Group.
