Shojiro Ishibashi established Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd., on March 1st, 1931 to manufacture and market tires.In a short span of time, Bridgestone became Japan's largest manufacturer of tires and expanded its business into other markets.
The growth of Japan's automobile industry helped Bridgestone reach the top ranks of the global tire and rubber industry. Following the 1988 acquisition of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Bridgestone became the largest company in their industry.
