Bank of China (Bank of China Limited) is one of the four state-owned commercial banks of China. It was established in 1912. In 1949, Bank of China became the state-designated specialized foreign exchange bank. Bank of China was converted into a wholly state-owned commercial bank in 1994. On August 26, 2004, Bank of China Limited was formally incorporated in Beijing as a state-controlled joint stock commercial bank.
