History
Precision Optical Industry, Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Canon, was founded in 1937 in Japan. In 1947, the Company name was changed to Canon Camera Co., Inc. In the 1950’s, Canon entered USA and Europe. The Company name was changed to Canon Inc. in 1969. In 2006, Canon embarked on Phase III of the Excellent Global Corporation Plan amid the development of two major trends in the business world: economic globalization and the spread of broadband networks.Mission
