History

Cardinal Health was founded in 1971 as Cardinal Foods in Columbus, Ohio. By 1979, the food industry became crowded with many large players, and as a result Cardinal turned to pharmaceutical distribution and became known as Cardinal Distribution.
In 1983 they went public as Cardinal Health. By 1994, Cardinal Health had established itself as a leader in the drug-distribution business. The Company evolved beyond drug distribution by acquiring leading companies that serve healthcare manufacturers and providers of patient care.

Today, Cardinal Health is a multinational healthcare industry services provider helping customers meet the growing challenges of a dynamic industry.
