History
Caremark was formed as a division of Baxter Healthcare Corporation in 1983. In 1992, Caremark spun off from Baxter. The Caremark Formulary was developed and Clinical Intervention Programs are introduced. The company continued setting up new offices in different locations. In 1994, Caremark expanded its product lines and in 1997 merged the prescription benefit management business with the biotech business. In 1998, Caremark defined pharmaceutical services as its core operating unit and established a National Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee. Caremark Rx and AdvancePCS announced a strategic combination in 2003.Mission
