Indian Chemical Companies

The Indian chemical companies are one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy. The sector is worth US $25 billion with an additional US $5 billion coming from the Fertilizer companies. The Indian chemical industry provides up to 13% of the Gross Domestic Production. The product line of the chemical companies of India consists of several kind of products and the industry is not concentrated in any particular part of the country, but it is distributed across the whole country although western India is right now, leading in the sector.

A major portion of the Indian chemical companies are based in the western part of the country and right now almost 50% of the chemical companies are operating in western India. Apart from the national companies, there are also some multinational companies which are dealing in the sector.

The chemical industry in India has several parts and all of these are providing their share in the development. The different sectors of the chemical industry are:
  • Organic Chemicals
  • Inorganic Chemicals
  • Petrochemicals
  • Agrochemicals
  • Bulk Drugs
  • Fine and specialties
  • Paints and Dyes
The production of the sector is marketed in two ways, directly to the clients or using the marketing channels. Selling the products through the channels means using the dealers and the stockist. But now, India has developed several petrochemical plants like Reliance petrochemicals, Haldia petrochemicals, etc. and the production of these plants, have changed the whole scenario.
