History
Electronic Data Systems (EDS) was founded by Ross Perot on June 27, 1962. EDS went public on September 12, 1968. In the 1970s, the company began pursuing businesses in many countries around the world.

In 1979, EDS reorganized into three groups: Insurance, Commercial and Government. On Oct. 18, 1984 a merger with General Motors (GM) was finalized, and EDS became a wholly owned subsidiary of GM. Today, EDS is a leading global technology services company.
