History
Enel (the Ente Nazionale per l'Energia Elettrica - National Electricity Board) was formed in 1962 in Italy. Previously an agency, Enel became a joint-stock company in 1992. From 1993 to 2002, the company pursued a diversification strategy and developed new lines of business. The company undertook internal reorganization and was converted into an industrial holding company. Today, Enel is Italy's largest power company, and the third-largest listed utility for market capitalization in Europe.Mission
