Along with other 18 states of the USA, Texas has also enacted Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), according to which Texas electric utility companies must increase the use of renewable energy in the state. As per the state's electricity market, Texas enacted the RPS asking for 2000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity by 2009.
