History

Henkel was founded by Fritz Henkel on September 26,1876 as Henkel & Cie in Aachen. The first product marketed by Henkel was "Universalwaschmittel", a universal detergent based on silicate. The company grew through new inventions and expanded its business worldwide.
Today, Henkel is a widely recognized name in international markets.

  • 2004: Henkel acquired Advanced Research Laboratories (ARL), Orbseal LLC and Sovereign Specialty Chemicals.
