The leading mail order firm in Germany, Quelle Schickedanz AG & Co and Germany’s biggest department store group, Karstadt Warenhaus AG, came together to form Karstadt Quelle in 1999. Operating over 90 department stores and more than 30 sports shops all over Germany, Karstadt Quelle is also a leading travel service provider. The Company stocks are traded on the Mid Cap DAX.
Activities:
The business activities of the group can be segmented as:
  • Karstadt: Comprises of Department stores, Sports stores. The stores are distinguished into three distinct types: premium, boulevard-plus stores and the boulevard type of stores. This sector accounted for adjusted sales of € 4.73 billion in 2005.

  • KarstadtQuelle Versandgruppe: With Universal mail order, Special mail order, International and New Media as its stables, the group runs Europe’s leading mail order Business. This sector reported adjusted sales of € 6.75 billion in 2005.
  • Thomas Cook: The Group’s internationally acclaimed tourism segment. It accounted for adjusted sales of € 3.83 billion in 2005.
  • Services: The Group also actively pursues financial services, information related services and purchasing.
    Performance:
