Corporate History:
Nippon Steel is one of the steel makers in the world. The company traces its origin to the merger of Yawata Iron & Steel and Fuji Iron & Steel in 1981. The company has an output of about 33 million tons.
Activities:
The business activities of the company can be segmented as: Steelmaking: Nippon Steel is one of the world’s largest steel manufacturers. The company owns nine manufacturing units and one processing unit. The several business divisions include the Plate division, Bar & wire rod division, Structural division, Flat products division, Pipe & tube division, Stainless steel division, Global marketing division and the Technical cooperation division.



Engineering and Construction: This division of the company handles projects both in Japan and overseas. Industrial construction, social constructions as well as resources recycling and stable energy supplies are dealt with. Power Supply: The Company operates five facilities in Japan to generate electricity.

Chemicals: Nippon Steel Chemical, the overseeing company of the group, looks into effective chemical manufacture from the by-products available in large volumes from steel production. It also conducts R&D for a vast range of petrochemical products.
Urban Development: The Company aims at effective land utilization so as to facilitate functioning of the real estate division.

Systems Solution services: NS Solutions Corporation looks into system solutions operations of the group.

New Materials and Nonferrous Material business: The group is active in the production of semiconductor materials, electronic parts, fine ceramics, Titanium Products, etc.
