Corporate History
Pepsico is a top US based global convenient food and beverages company with operations all over the world. Pepsico Inc was established through the merger of Pepsi Cola and Frito-Lay in 1965. The new company steadily grew and in the first fiscal earned revenues of 1 billion USD with an employee strength of over 36,000 people.Pepsico integrated a policy of acquisitions as part of its strategy for aggressive growth. As a result the company broadened it’s horizon to include brands of varied products. At the same time the company was aggressively spreading across geographies and in 1974 became the first American consumer product to be produced, marketed and sold in the Soviet Union.

In fiscal 2006 Pepsico’s revenues were 35,137 million USD which was approximately 7.9 % more than what it was in the fiscal before.The total value of the assets held by Pepsico in fiscal 2006 was 29,930 million USD which was 6 % less than what it was in the fiscal before.

Milestones
- In 1976 Pepsi Cola became the single largest selling soft drink brand in the US supermarkets
- In 1977 Pepsico acquires Pizza Hut
- The Pepsico Research and Technical Center was established in 1977, in Valhalla, New York
- Pepsi achieved the top position in take-home sales in 1980
- In 1982 Pepsi commenced operations in China
- In 1988 Pepsi commenced operations in India
- Ms. Indra Nooyi becomes CEO of Pepsico in October 2006
