Pepsico is a top US based global convenient food and beverage company with operations across the world. Pepsico Inc. was established through the merger of PepsiCola and Frito-Lay in 1965. The new company steadily grew, and in the first fiscal year earned revenues of 1 billion USD, with an employee strength of over 36,000 people.Pepsico integrated a policy of acquisitions as part of its strategy for aggressive growth. As a result, the company broadened it's horizon to include brands of varied products. At the same time, Pepsico was aggressively spreading across countries. In 1974, Pepsico became the first American consumer product to be produced, marketed and sold in the Soviet Union.

Pepsico is positioned to be the world's leading convenient food and beverages company and operates through its four main divisions:- Pepsico International and Pepsico Beverages North America: 44 brands across the world, including its most popular international brand, Pepsi Cola.
- Frito-Lay North America: Fun foods like wafers, chips, pretzels and cookies to satisfy snacking needs.
- Quaker Foods North America: Utility foods such as breakfast cereals, oatmeal products, grits, pancakes, snacks bars, rice, pasta and couscous.
Performance
In fiscal year 2006, Pepsico's revenues were 35,137 million USD which was approximately 7.9% more than than in fiscal year 2005.The total value of assets held by Pepsico in the fiscal year 2006 was 29,930 million USD. This was 6% less than in the fiscal year 2005.
Pepsico's net income in the fiscal year 2006 was 5,642 million USD, which was 38.35% more than in fiscal year 2005.
Milestones
- In 1976, Pepsi Cola became the single largest selling soft drink brand in US supermarkets.
- In 1977, Pepsico acquires Pizza Hut
- Pepsico Research and Technical Center was established in 1977, in Valhalla, New York.
- Pepsi achieved the top position in take home sales in 1980.
- In 1982, Pepsi began operations in China
- In 1988, Pepsi began operations in India
- Ms. Indra Nooyi became CEO of Pepsico in October 2006.
