Societe Generale Group is an international French corporation and one of the top three banks of the European Union with a worldwide presence. It is the seventh largest company in France with over 19 million individual customers worldwide.

Societe Generale traces its origins to May of 1864, when a group of businessmen led by Eugene Schneider set up the bank to support the fledgling economy of France during that time.

Today, Societe Generale has grown and expanded into 45 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Africa. Societe Generale is a Fortune 500 company.

In fiscal 2005, Societe Generale recorded a net banking income of 19,170 Euros, which was 17% more than the year before.

The total value of the assets held by Societe Generale in 2005 was 386 billion Euros. That was an increase of 22.5% more than in 2004. The Group's net income in fiscal 2005 was 4,446 million Euros representing a growth of 35.5% in one year.
