The small cargo companies mainly carry out the domestic shipments and they mainly specialize in handling one or two types of cargoes. But the big cargo shipping companies generally offer a wide range of services. They usually have their own vessels and aircraft for shipments and carrying out any kind of transaction is not a problem for them.
The cargo shipping containers are generally required to accommodate and transfer more cargos at a single transshipment and hence the cargo containers are much bigger in size than what they were previously. The dimensions of the cargo containers are made in such a way that they could be easily handled at different transshipment points. The most common length of a cargo container is 40 ft while 20 ft long cargo containers are the smallest and 53 ft long cargo containers are the largest. There are special cargo containers available in the sizes of 45 ft and 48 ft that are used for cargoes with awkward dimensions that don’t fit into a normal contaioner.
