Pakistan Currency

Pakistan currency is the medium of exchange for goods and services in Pakistan. The official currency of Pakistan is Pakistani Rupee, which is abbreviated as PKR. Pakistani Rupee is divided into 100 paisa.

The currency of Pakistan is Pakistani Rupee (PKR). One rupee consists of 100 paise (singular = paisa). Until 1961, the Pakistani rupee was divided into 16 Annas before being changed to 100 paise. The rupee is a paper currency. Coins are available in denominations of PRs2 and 1, and 50 and 25 paisa. And notes are available in denominations of PRs1000, 500, 100, 50, 10 and 5

Currency restrictions

The export and import of local currency in Pakistan is limited to PRs100 in denominations of PRs10 or less. The import and export of foreign currencies are unlimited.
