Bank of the Philippine Island

Bank of the Philippine Island or BPI came into existence long back in 1851. At that time it was the second bank in Philippine to be established after the Rodriguez's Bank. As at present the Rodriguez's Bank does not exist, the Bank of the Philippine Island is now the oldest bank in Philippine. In fact, not only of Philippine, Bank of the Philippine Island is the oldest bank in the whole of South Asia.

Starting its journey from the early times, the Bank of Philippine Island has come a long way and currently it holds the status of the third largest bank in Philippine in terms of assets. It possesses the Largest Branch Network in Philippine which is comprised of more than 800 branches and more than 3000 ATMs. At present it holds a customers base near about 3 million.

Bank of the Philippine Island for the first time introduced the concept of Rural Banking in Philippine. Today also the Bank runs a wide Rural Branch Network.

Before the establishment of the Central Bank of Philippine, Bank of the Philippine Island was authorized to issue Philippine Currency. In fact, Philippine Peso was first in the country introduced by the Bank of the Philippine Island .
