Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad

At present, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad ranks as the top business school in India. It is also known as IIM-A. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was incorporated in the year 1961. IIM Ahmedabad is known all over the world for offering the highest quality management education.
The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad was established by the Government of India in joint cooperation with the Indian industry and the Government of Gujarat. Dignified scientists and industrialists of Gujarat like Dr. Vikram Sarabhai and Kasturbhai Lalbhai played a significant role behind the formation of the institute.

The library of the institute has been named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. IIM-A is the 2nd oldest Indian Institute of Management to be founded after the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.


The IIM-A is regarded as one of the premier management education schools in Asia. It functions as an autonomous body.
The educational programs offered by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad can be broadly categorized into the following types:

• MBA Level Programs: Post Graduate Programme in Management, Post Graduate Programme in Agri-Business Management, One Year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX)
• Faculty Development Program

The IIM-A has a campus area of 100 acres. At present, the chairman of the institute is Dr. Vijaypat Singhania.
