The
Financial Planning Association of Malaysia is also known as FPAM. The FPAM is a non-profit organization that ensures to maintain the standards of competency of the qualified Financial Planners in Malaysia. The FPAM also emphasizes on the ethical practice of the financial planners in Malaysia. Educating people on the various benefits of the financial planning is also another activity of FPAM.
The Financial Planning Association of Malaysia was established on December 13, 1999. The prime objective behind the inception of FPAM was to promote the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and CFP designation process in Malaysia. It also intends to make the CFP as the highest level of certification in the financial planning profession in Malaysia. A group of corporates representing various financial services of the country represents the association. The corporates and professionals are generally represented from the fields of banking, insurance, legal services, unit trusts, stock broking, assets management and accounting services.
The role and objectives of FPAM is -
- Introducing the financial planning concepts to the practitioners and other related professionals working in the financial services industry in Malaysia
- Establishing a professional self-regulatory organization so that it benefits the public of Malaysia by offering professional standards in financial planning
- Developing practice standards for the financial professionals in Malaysia
- Establishing open dialogues with the people related in financial services and thus encouraging them to adopt education, ethics practice standards for their representatives
- Developing the strategic partnerships with the consumer groups in order to make people understand the importance of financial planning in Malaysia
- Establishing a knowledge base for the financial planning in Malaysia
- Enhancing a strong bond among the international Financial Planning Standards Board and national affiliates in order to acquire cooperative policies promoting the CFP certification
According to FPAM, the financial planning is a service provided both to business and the individuals in order to ensure assistance in organizing and analyzing the financial affairs thus attaining the financial goal.
