Credit Union 1
Historic Background:
Formed in 1958 on the grounds of Chanute Air Force Base to serve members of the military and their families, Credit Union 1 has a long history of providing banking options to the communities surrounding its home in Rantoul, Illinois.
As the base faced closure in the early 1980s, membership privileges were expanded to include other individuals in the area so the organization could continue operating for those servicemen that had kept it in business for so long. Then, in 1999, a merger with nearby Paysaver Credit Union brought other branches under the umbrella and set in motion growth that continues across Illinois and neighboring Indiana to this day.
