Rogue Federal Credit Union

Rogue Federal Credit Union (RFCU) is an Oregon-based financial cooperative that meets the banking needs of people in Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath Counties.

History:
Ten teachers pooled their money to form a member-focused banking organization in 1956 committed to providing a safe and convenient way to secure a loan or save money. Over time, as more and more people joined this alternative to corporate banks, the number of products increased and RFCU changed its name to reflect its expanding membership.

Throughout the institution’s existence, perhaps in part due to its roots in education, it has sought to ensure the community understands the importance of fiscal responsibility through seminars and free programs geared to people of all ages.

Organizational Structure:
Like similar financial institutions, RFCU is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the member-owners who work with a group of professionals that oversee day-to-day workings to guide the organization. This set-up allows member needs to be placed first when thinking about RFCU’s fiscal health, meaning greater dividends for accountholders as it continues to grow. At present, there are more than 48,000 people that do their banking in locations across three counties. By serving so many people with personal service, assets have grown to more than $484 million.
