WESTconsin Credit Union
History:
In the late 1930s, at the height of the Great Depression, a group of farmers surrounding the town Menomonie, Wisconsin pooled their money to create a credit union that would give families planting and harvesting in the area an option beyond the corporate banking industry.
As time passed, Menomonie Farmers Credit Union combined with other institutions in order to provide services for a wider range of people. Then, in 1990, the group changed its name to WESTconsin Credit Union to reflect the span of its membership. The organization continued to grow, leading to expansion into four counties in neighboring Minnesota near the end of 2005.
Products and Services:
The following products and services are being offered by the credit union:
- Free Checking
- Deposit Accounts
- Online and Mobile Banking
- Home Lending
- Vehicle Loans
- Home and Auto Insurance
- Agriculture and Commercial Loans
- Wealth Management
- Real Estate Agency
Organizational Structure:
Like most credit unions, the day-to-day operations of WCU are overseen by a CEO and team of executives. These individuals are responsible for contributing to and carrying out the vision for the institution as guided by the seven-person volunteer board of directors. This group of committed people is driven by the organization’s chief goal: helping members achieve financial success with honesty and caring among both accountholders and members.
