The District of Colombia Unemployment Insurance Law requires that, for getting unemployment compensation, one have to have a record of receiving wages in minimum two quarters of the base period. Moreover, for being eligible for unemployment insurance benefits, one is required to earn $1,300 in minimum, in any one quarter of the base period. The law also states that, the claimant should carry the record of earning minimum $1,950 in the whole base period.

Even after meeting all these criteria, the authority can disqualify any insurance claim, if they find that, the previous employer for misconduct discharged the claimant. If it is found that, the applicant had participated in any labor dispute in the past, and then also the authority can reject his insurance claim.
