New Mexico Unemployment Insurance

Abstract: The unemployed persons of New Mexico are entitled to receive Unemployment Insurance Benefits, on fulfillment of certain eligibility requirements. In order to get the insurance benefits, they are required to file insurance claim by providing all required information.

The unemployed persons of New Mexico, on fulfillment of certain eligibility criteria, can receive New Mexico Unemployment Insurance benefits.

The Eligibility Requirements for receiving New Mexico Unemployment Insurance Benefits

•  For getting unemployment insurance benefits, one is required to be physically and mentally fit to perform any work.

•  The applicant has to prove that he is actively searching for jobs.

These are the non-monetary eligibility requirements for getting unemployment insurance benefits. But, the New Mexico Unemployment Insurance Law also states some monetary eligibility requirements. According to these monetary eligibility requirements, the unemployment insurance claims are based on base period earnings. Here, the standard base period is considered as the first four quarters of last five complete calendar quarters, preceding the effective date of insurance claim. For getting unemployment insurance benefits, the applicants must possess a record of earning a minimum level of wage in at least one quarter.

Procedure of Filing Unemployment Insurance Claim in New Mexico

The eligible persons can file unemployment insurance claim by telephone. But, there is also the facility of filing unemployment insurance claims using the online services.

At the time of filing the insurance claim, the applicants are required to submit the following things:

•  The applicants are required to submit their Social Security Number, if they are citizens of US.

•  The people, who are not citizens of US, are required to submit Alien Registration Number along with the Expiration Date of the Registration.

•  The names and addresses of each employer, for whom the applicant has worked in the past 18 months.

•  Dates, on which the applicant started and stopped working for his previous employers.

•  The reason behind leaving the previous jobs.
