In the Hong Kong stock market the Bank of China has been the leading performer. The company has declared the presence of sufficient financial resources to account for the investments it has made in the sub-prime market. As far as the investors are concerned they are being assured by the proclamations of the Bank of China.
As has been stated already, the companies dealing in natural resources have been doing well. An example of this is the fact that the companies dealing in iron ore have been performing well. The good performances of their stocks have put them in a position from where they might be able to bring about an increase in the prices.
The MCSI Asia Pacific Index has attained a better financial position as well. It has increased by 1.6 per cent and presently stands at 146.17. This has been the best performance of the MCSI Asia Pacific Index since the fifth of February this year. Out of the ten industrial sectors in this index nine have got to better positions.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average of Japan stands presently at 13,757.91. This is an improvement of 0.9 per cent. The leading performers in this context have been Amada Co. and Merrill Lynch & Co.
In case of the Hang Seng Index the Bank of China has gone up to 3.30 Hong Kong dollars. The financial institutions like the banks have been doing well. For example National Australia Bank, Westpac Banking Corp. and HSBC Holdings Plc. have done well.
Along with the banks the iron ore producers like Rio Tinto have performed remarkably. The names of BHP Billiton, Yunnan Copper Industry Co. and Perilya Ltd. may be mentioned in this case as well. The companies that deal in Palm oil are doing well too; some examples would be Sime Darby Bhd., Univanich Palm Oil Ltd. and Wilmar International Ltd.
Real estate companies like Frontier Real Estate in Japan have been doing well in the stock markets in Asia. In the stock market of Hong Kong, PICC Property & Casualty Co. have had decent performances as well. All these performance statistics point to a good condition of the Asian stock market scenario.
