General Overview of Private Savings Rate in the OECD Countries
The private sector saving denotes the combined face of the household savings and savings done by the business sector. The private savings rate in the OECD countries is an important factor for the economies of the member countries of OECD. On the other hand, these savings are the prime generators of funds for the national investment. At the same time, it should be mentioned that the governments of different countries in OECD have played a major role in influencing the national savings. But at the same time, these efforts are occasional and limited to two or three countries. In normal circumstances, it is the private savings rate in the OECD countries that matters much for investment finance.
Household Saving in OECD Countries
Ratios of household saving in the countries related to Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development or OECD, performed well in the 70's. But unfortunately these rates dropped down in the 80's. The reason behind this was the disinflation and sustained retrieval. Actually, it was the inflation and the movement in the oil prices that created the instability in the economic conditions of these countries and stimulated the savings rate. At present, the households saving ratios are comparatively low in a number of countries.
Business Savings in OECD Countries
The business savings provide a good share in the financial investment of the OECD countries. It is also responsible for the private savings rate in the OECD countries. In a large number of countries that is related to OECD, the business savings is responsible for almost 50% of the private savings. Business savings and development of the business profits are related to each other. It has been seen that whenever the business profits are low, the business savings reflected the picture quite perfectly. The periods when the OECD countries were facing bad times regarding businesses and the share prices were going down constantly, the business savings also showed the same picture. At the same time, the business sector has recovered now and the business savings ratio is also showing an upward trend.
