Dividend Paying Stock

The stocks that pay back a portion of its earnings as dividend to its shareholders are known as dividend paying stocks. The stocks that pay dividend may be more beneficial for certain types of stockholders than others. Some dividend paying stocks yield consistently high dividends and retired people prefer these types of stocks. The high-income group, on the other hand, prefers not to go for these stocks because of the taxable rate of these stocks.

A high dividend paying stock ensures high returns for the investors. In order to get high return on investments, an investor must look to invest in stocks that pay more than average dividend. The stocks of those companies that have been making profit consistently for a period of more than three years should be invested in. The earnings from stocks need to be consistent. The company, which is issuing a dividend yielding stock, must have satisfactory amount of net cash.


All stocks, however, do not pay dividends. It is the unanimous decision of the company management and the board of directors. However, dividend paying stocks are quite common. The stock brokers perform the function of adding the dividends received to the cash accounts of their customers. Dividend yielding companies are mainly service and manufacturing companies and banks. Stock dividends are obtained from the companies distributing a portion of their profits to their shareholders. However, it is not binding on companies to pay dividends. Stock dividends can be both variable and fixed.
