The NASDAQ Composite Index calculates the international and domestic based common type stocks that are listed in the NASDAQ Stock Market. There are 3,000 companies listed in the NASDAQ Composite index. It is one of the most widely followed market indices in the world.
NASDAQ-100 Index
The NASDAQ-100 Index components are made of the 100 largest international and domestic non-financial securities that are listed in the NASDAQ Stock Market. The listing of the securities is based on the market capitalization. This index mirrors the industries of telecommunications, computer software and hardware, biotechnology and retail/wholesale trade. The securities of the investment companies are not included in the NASDAQ-100 Index.
NASDAQ Biotechnology Index
NASDAQ Biotechnology Index components are the securities from those companies that are classified in either Pharmaceuticals or Biotechnology industry according to the Industry Classification Benchmark and also listed with NASDAQ Stock Market. The NASDAQ Biotechnology Index is measured under modified capitalization-weighted method.
FTSE NASDAQ 500 Index
There is FTSE NASDAQ 500 Index that contains the largest 500 companies of the NASDAQ Stock Market according to capitalization. The companies that are listed with the NASDAQ Composite Index are included in the FTSE NASDAQ 500 Index at the latter's review date.
