The demand for
Pennsylvania tax reform is becoming stronger. A wide range of taxes is provided to the local governments and school districts of Pennsylvania. These local governments and the school districts have the right to choose and impose taxes according to the situation. The local governments and the school districts consider a number of factors before imposing these taxes. Some of these factors are the local financial needs, the socio-economic condition, local population and so on.
The main problem with the local governments and the school districts is that they are not allowed to create any new tax. At the same time, they are not entitled to set the tax limits also. Although they are free to choose any tax that is provided but there are certain situations where the traditional taxes are not applicable. In such situations, the local governments are helpless.
Citizens of Pennsylvania and their representatives are concerned about these problems and because of this, they are constantly demanding for Pennsylvania tax reform. These people raised their demand a decade before. According to the demands of these people and their Pennsylvania tax reform proposals, there should be more options provided to the local bodies. Another demand of these people is that of making the taxes fair and to abolish the unfair taxes.
Though these people and the politicians are hopeful about the positive results of Pennsylvania tax reform, but at the same time, they are also not ready to compel the district authorities or the school districts that are comfortable with the prevailing tax structure of Pennsylvania, to accept the new tax structure. The decision would be taken by the respective authorities according to their needs.
One of the prime aims of Pennsylvania tax reform activities is to abolish the unfair taxes from the tax structure of the state and generate income through fair taxes. According to the proposals, there would be no major downfall in the income of the local bodies and their financial condition is also not going to be disturbed. The Pennsylvania tax reform would simply shift the load of the local taxes instead of tax cuts.
