Goals of the International Trade Centre
The basic objective pf International Trade Centre is helping the small business sector of the developing countries to export their products. This is done in the form of arrangement of business partners, development of trade solutions and formation of institutions of trade support.The above mentioned goal is fulfilled by the undertaking the following strategies:
- Enterprise: The enterprises of International Trade Centre adds vigour to the international competitiveness of the small business units of the developing countries.
- Policy makers: The policy makers are supported so that they help in globalizing the business unit.
Other roles and responsibilities of the International Trade Centre
- The International Trade Centre has similar social development goals as that of the other development institutions like the United Nations, World Bank, WTO and IMF. The ITC also shares the Millenium Development Goals of the UN. This aims at creating global business partners for the underdeveloped countries. It also aims at poverty reductions, bringing about gender equality. It is also concerned with the sustainability of the environment.
- The International Trade Centre advices the business units that they should reap the benefits of an open trading regime.
- The International Trade Centre increases the international competitiveness of a developing country through its technical assistance programs related to trade. This approach of the International Trade Centre was highly appreciated at the WTO's Doha Ministerial Declaration. The developmental approach undertaken by the International Trade Centre was also recognised by the Monterrey Consensus.
