While playing Pokemon card game, presence of Pokemon cards is a must in the deck of cards. However, other cards like Energy and Trainer cards are also vital for achieving victory in the Pokemon games.Pokemon cards form the basis in all the decks. The game starts on the playing arena by putting cards in active positions.It begins by activating a basic Pokemon. These cards display a Pokemon picture as found in video games. Individual players may have a max of 6 Pokemon cards at play at a single instant.
Of these six cards, one is an active Pokemon. The rest are reserves who can potentially affect the game proceedings. Successful Pokemon attacks adversely and affect opponents active Pokemon or at times their reserves also.
Active Pokemon can manipulate a player’s card possession. The attacks need energy, which is provided by the Energy cards. Pokemon attacks not supported by Energy cards are weak and normally serve purpose other than damage infliction.
The Energy cards are of 2 kinds
- Basic Energy cards
- Special Energy cards
Basic Energy cards have 8 subdivisions
- Fighting
- Metal
- Fire
- Darkness
- Grass
- Water
- Lightning
- Water
Basic Energy cards give energy of a specified type only. Special Energy cards exhibit added benefits. Basic Energy cards do not face any restriction regarding the number of their presence in a deck. Other cards face the normal restrictions.
