Bond Trading System in Japan

Abstract:
In this paper we will discuss about the electronic bond trading system in Japan. Lehman Brothers had introduced it in 2000. The Softbank Finance Corporation also associated with it.

In 2000, Lehman Brothers Holdings, an investment bank in Wall Street, along with Softbank Finance Corporation set the platform for electronic bond trading in Japan.

It was the first proprietary bond trading system founded in Japan after the relaxations for securities regulations had been made effective in 1999.

The electronic bond trading system is now handled by E Bond Securities Company Ltd under the supervision of Softbank Finance and Lehman Brothers.

The electronic bond trading system has enabled the banks, financial organizations and the local governments to trade online. Previously, the market operations were purely based on the voice trading systems.

Apart from electronic bond trading system, Lehman Brothers also invested in some other electronic ventures as well. However, the electronic bond system helped the Japanese traders to trade with the bonds easily and efficiently.
