The Sumer Research Conference is a regular event in the International School of Business or ISB. This year also the Centre for Analytical Finance at ISB is going to organize the Summer Research Conference 2008. The conference will start on the evening of 7th August. According to the set program, the next two days are allotted for paper presentation and discussions on several topics.
The recent advancement in the concept of corporate finance is the main focus of the conference. All the related research papers are invited in the conference. The papers may address any of the following areas of corporate finance:
- Agency Costs and Corporate Financing
- Behavioral Implications
- Corporate Financing in Emerging Markets
- Real Options and its relation with Corporate Investment Decisions
- Mergers and Acquisitions
- Product Markets and Corporate Finance
- Corporate Governance and Control Rights
The research papers may be empirical or theoretical. Papers that are dealing with new ideas or handling different concepts will be given preference in the review. Again, research papers that are dealing with the development of new techniques for the purpose of analysis will also be preferred. These papers should be submitted before 31st March 2008. After being reviewed in two rounds, the research papers will be finally ranked and the authors will be informed. This will be done in the month of May. The best paper will receive a cash prize sponsored by Citigroup.
The main speaker in the Summer Research Conference 2008 in Finance would be Michael Brennan who is well known across the world for his knowledge in the field of finance. Professor Brennan has done researches in the field of asset pricing, derivatives securities, corporate finance, capital market and so on. At present the speaker is dealing with the problems of asset allocation, corporate hedging strategies and many other related issues. Professor Brennan is expected to touch upon all those reasearch areas in his speech in the Summer Research Conference 2008 in Finance.
